I’m a psychiatrist and therapist with over a decade of experience, practicing in the San Francisco Bay Area. I work well with individuals who want to understand the deeper origins of their symptoms from both biological and psychological frameworks. While I have special interests in the care of young adults, creatives, caregivers and those impacted by substance use disorders, I consider myself a generalist and open to referrals from all peoples.

I offer diagnostic and medication consultations, second opinion consultations, and in some cases psychotherapy. My overall approach is informed by psychoanalytic thought and a deep appreciation for human subjectivity balanced with the biological rigor of medical training at Vanderbilt and UCSF, and double-board certification in adult and addiction psychiatry. I have also studied integrative psychiatry and offer non-pharmaceutical treatments as appropriate.

As a healthcare provider, I reject the reductive paradigm of viewing health exclusively through the narrow lens of illness. Patients are more than a diagnosis with an algorithmic set of prescription trials to follow. Preferences, past experiences and values impact the effectiveness of any intervention, and I prioritize understanding these before beginning a treatment plan or course of psychotherapy. Building a care plan that works for my patients is paramount—and there is room for creativity and curiosity as we develop that plan together.

Outside of my practice, you’ll find me reading, writing, or exploring Northern California with my family and rescued hound dog, Georgie.
